Is there really a free plan?
Yes — Starter is free forever. 2 seats, 1 inbox, 100 conversations/month. No credit card needed. You can also self-host the open-source version for free on your own infrastructure.
How does the AI actually work?
Helpzen's AI is powered by Claude (Anthropic). It reads your past conversations and knowledge base to learn your team's tone, then suggests context-aware replies — not generic templates. You always review before sending.
Which channels are supported?
Live chat, email, WhatsApp, Slack, and Telegram are all supported. Jira, Linear, GitHub, HubSpot, Shopify, and Notion integrations are also available. More channels ship regularly.
Can I migrate from Intercom or Zendesk?
Yes. We offer a free migration service for Pro and Scale customers — including conversations, contacts, and knowledge base articles. Most teams are fully migrated in under 48 hours.
What is the difference between cloud and self-hosted?
Cloud is fully managed by us — infrastructure, SSL, updates, backups, and scaling are all handled. Self-hosted means you run Helpzen on your own servers with docker compose. Same product, full data ownership, zero monthly cost.
Is my data secure?
Yes. Data is encrypted at rest (AES-256) and in transit (TLS 1.3). We never share your data with third parties. Self-hosting gives you 100% control over where data lives. Enterprise plans add SSO, audit logs, and custom data residency.
Can I contribute to Helpzen?
